1926: MHS defeats Hilmar High in first-ever section high school football game

Ninety years ago, on October 22, 1926, the "Thundering Herd" of Manteca High School conquered the Hilmar High eleven here this afternoon with a score of 13 to 0. It was the first CIF league game played in this section. Manteca outplayed the visitors from start to finish. Eddie Forsell, captain and fullback of the Mantecans, was the outstanding star of the game. His long punts and passes were excellent.
