Absolving Black Lives Matter in Dallas

When white racist Dylann Roof allegedly shot and killed nine people in a black church in Charleston, South Carolina, it was very easy for President Obama and his media enablers to paint with a broad brush and blame the wider political culture. Bill Maher even blamed Fox News and the Daily Caller and the Drudge Report.

Brexit stuns the globalists

Britain's decision to "leave" the European Union (EU) ended the career of Prime Minister David Cameron, who had campaigned hard to "remain" in that supranational body of unelected bureaucrats. Small-c conservatives in Cameron's own Conservative Party rebelled against the liberals and globalists who dominate both major parties over there. Sound familiar?

Trump’s Muslim ban is gaining support

When an ISIS-supporting Muslim named Mateen massacred 49 people at a nightclub in Orlando on June 12, Donald Trump reminded Americans that he is still the only political candidate to support a pause in the massive flow of Muslims entering the United States. Trump made his proposal last December after another ISIS-supporting Muslim massacred 14 people at an office Christmas party in San Bernardino, California.

Law school: New boot camp

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are about to choose running mates. I don't know whom they'll pick, but I hope that one or both picks a military veteran. The next president will inherit war zones in the Middle East and Afghanistan, yet neither major party's front-runner can boast military chops. In the last century, military service was considered an important part of a portfolio for a would-be commander in chief. After all, how can a president send others into battle when he has not seen combat himself? Military service hasn't been mandatory in a president, nor ...

Now controversial: ‘God Bless America’

It didn't used to be -- that's a phrase we use a lot these days, isn't it? - but the Fourth of July festivities bring out the angriest guff from the left. In 1991 Boston Globe arts critic (and aspiring poet) Patricia Smith decided to refashion the national anthem in the leftist rag The Nation.

Poisonous plants on your yard can can kill your dog

DEAR DIDI: We have a beautiful 10 week old Rottweiler puppy. She is so good and hasn't caused any problems which just amazes us. We have a large landscaped backyard where she plays all day while we are at work. Last week we came home to a lethargic dog. We thought she was just tired but by 9 o'clock at night she was drooling nonstop and just not acting right. After rushing her into an emergency vet and spending over $1,000 our little baby managed to survive a poisoning. Please remind people that some of our pretty ...

Feel safer? It’s easier to get parole, harder to buy bullets

Gov. Jerry Brown and the Democratic Legislature have a unique plan to enhance public safety in California. They have reduced the state prison population from close to 150,000 in 2010 to 113,000 now by downgrading what crimes put an offender in prison. Now they are pushing a ballot measure that would enable repeat serious and violent offenders to qualify for early release - to further reduce the state prison population. No worries, though, because they also are passing laws that make it harder or costlier for everyone to buy guns and ammunition.
