Is Trump committed to law?

Donald Trump's rhetoric has been so dangerously outside the bounds of normal American political discourse - which, at least, pays lip service to constitutional governance and democratic rule - that legitimate questions about whether he could be relied on to fully and faithfully execute the laws of the United States have been raised.

Restoring the San Joaquin

FRESNO - A decade ago, environmentalists and the federal government agreed to revive a 150-mile stretch of California's second-longest river, an ambitious effort aimed at allowing salmon again to swim up to the Sierra Nevada foothills to spawn.

The uncontrollable man

His daughter knew what to say. So did his running mate and his campaign manager. They all knew the question was coming. And the answer was simple: Yes -- barring some extraordinary circumstances, such as what happened in the 2000 election, "Of course we'll accept." "Absolutely, we will."

Exercise can be a double-edged sword with dilated aortic root

DEAR DR. ROACH: I am a 66-year-old male in good health who was just informed by my doctor that the diameter of my aortic root has increased to 4.3 centimeters. Last year, the echocardiogram showed a number of 4.1. I have heard that running, which makes the heart rate go up, can contribute to the enlargement of the aortic root. Is there any truth to that? I hate to give up exercising. -- G.S.

Media-Clinton collusion

We once scoffed at the suggestion there was some form of a liberal media conspiracy against conservatives. Do liberals meet for breakfast and plan attacks on their ideological foes? Of course not, we'd answer. It's not a conspiracy. It's a mindset wherein what is liberal is good, and what is conservative is in opposition to what is good.

Why our kids are coming in last place

The United States, anyone could reasonably argue, has the most accomplished elite athletes in the world. The best evidence? In Rio this past summer, young American men and women finished at a comfortable first place in the Olympic final medal tally.

In 2016 Trump learns, a kiss is not just a kiss

Yes, it has come to this. The New York Times reported on its front page Thursday that Donald Trump fondled a woman on an airplane more than 30 years ago and kissed another woman on the mouth against her wishes in 2005. I don't think I've ever been this ashamed of my profession.

Debate II: Trump shows up

The crass tape of Donald Trump speaking in vulgar terms about women and what he has supposedly done to them worked, ironically, in Trump's favor during the second debate. It meant that more people tuned in for this debate than otherwise would have and saw Trump's vastly superior performance compared with that of the first debate
