Left-wing abortion extremism

Donald Trump, when asked, "Do you believe in punishment for abortion?" said, "There has to be some form of punishment." "For the woman?" asked MSNBC's Chris Matthews. "Yeah," said Trump. Hours later, Trump walked it back, and said: "The doctor or any other person performing this illegal act upon a woman would be held legally responsible, not the woman. The woman is a victim." But the bell was not to be un-rung.

Homeopathic remedies no better than placebo for postnasal drip

HEROIN USERS

Larry Campbell, a former cop and former mayor of Vancouver, British Columbia, was appalled as he came to San Francisco to advocate a bill that would allow California cities to open safe injection centers like the one in his city for intravenous drug users. He'd "never seen the number of people sleeping on the street," he told the San Francisco Chronicle editorial board that he saw as he walked a few blocks from his Market Street hotel. He saw open drug dealing. "There's nobody hiding here."

Tabloid trashing Cruz

The National Enquirer's name in journalism is synonymous with factually unsupported drivel of the lowest kind. It is a sacred truth that no responsible journalist would reference the kind of garbage found in this tabloid.

The streets of San Francisco

"Sometimes I think we're so liberal that we're OK stepping over dead people on our sidewalks," Daniel Bergerac of the Castro Merchants Association and Castro Cares told me as we discussed the state of the streets of San Francisco. As he knows, people stepping over dead people does happen in San Francisco.

What are Trump’s values?

A man who proclaims he'd like to punch a protester in the face - as Donald Trump did recently in Nevada - isn't fit to serve as the president of the United States. That's the first thing that must be said.

Paying for low-wage pollution

Imagine if a corporation set up shop in your community and immediately dumped toxic sludge in your local waterways and buried radioactive waste next to your biggest playground. You and your neighbors, I bet, would demand full compensation from that corporation to pay for the clean-up and public health costs.
