Free Ripon Easter egg hunt

There will be some 10,000 Easter eggs hidden throughout Ripon's Stouffer Park Saturday morning for an expected 300 children to find and put in their Easter baskets. Elden "Red" Nutt, Ripon Vice Mayor, passed away

Elden "Red" Nutt was Vice Mayor of the Ripon City Council, in line to become Mayor. He passed away Friday morning. Nutt, who was a retired police chief, has served on the council since 2006, and was appointed mayor twice during that stint. Prior to that, he was on the Ripon Planning Commission for two years. Nutt was the only incumbent to be re-elected during the 2012 campaign. He worked on the Ripon police force from 1964 to 1990.
