Mercedes-Benz redefines gorgeous with C-Class sedan

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine - My drive route from Kennebunkport to the infamous Mount Washington takes my driving partner and me through the scenic New England countryside populated with quaint towns and villages, sampling roads originally cut through ancient forests before cars were invented.

Santa Barbara: You can visit city on budget

If there is a more beautiful city in California than Santa Barbara, we have yet to find it. Broad beaches are set against lush vegetation and a hilly landscape that is nestled just in front of the picturesque Santa Ynez Mountains. An abundance of Spanish architecture completes a panorama that could just as well be a beautiful city on the Mediterranean.

Ford-150: It may change your mind

We are not normally fans of full-size pickups; however, it's hard not to appreciate the smooth quiet ride, plush comfortable interiors and brute power of many luxurious new truck models. The trade-off for us is poor fuel economy, massive size and they don't handle as well as we'd like, especially on the curvy mountain roads in our area.

Uber Commuter: VW’s Jetta Sportwagen TDI utility-rich for families, active lifestyles

The Jetta Sportwagen diesel is a cult classic, but without the tattoos, piercings and questionable life direction. It's on the fringe of the "Veggie Underground," flirting with that band of motorists who brew their own biodiesel from cooking oil to stake their claim for independence.

Happy Holidays from Manteca Ford & Phil Waterford

It's that time of the year again: Christmas and the start of a new year. Phil Waterford would personally like to thank all of the fine customers that we have had the privilege of doing business with over this past year. These are still tough economic times for everyone and we thank you for your continued support! Waterford noted that because of the support of our community his North Main Street Ford dealership has been able to give back to the community in many different ways. From giving new cars to veterans and good Samaritans, helping all of our ...

Christmas Eve Breakfast

On Christmas Eve, the dealership will host its annual Christmas Eve Breakfast. Last year, this event brought in hundreds upon hundreds of people into Waterford's North Main Street dealership to break bread. The first 500 children 12 and under will receive an unwrapped toy and have an opportunity to meet Santa. We want the best breakfast for everyone in attendance. Our friends from Nulaid Eggs in Ripon have donated all the eggs, Starbucks, Foster Farms, Save Mart, McDonalds, Costco, Chez Shari, Party Warehouse in Tracy, Walgreens and Economy Signs have all agreed to contribute to this special event.

Love story has roots in Manteca

Phil Waterford noted the highlight of the evening was when he recognized Richard Pardini, a Stockton resident whom he had the pleasure of meeting and introducing last month at the Healings in Motion awards dinner that honored caregivers. "Mr. Pardini has such an amazing love story, one I'll never forget," Waterford said. Richard Pardini recently celebrated over 63 years of marriage to his wife Beverly. He has spent the last 13 years caring for his love mate who developed disabilities from two strokes and no longer remembers him. Despite her deteriorating health conditions and loss of memory, Richard showed ...

Frustrated about life? Change your focus

I was feeling blue as we approached the holiday season. Apparently, so many Americans find it tough as we go through the holidays. My father passed away in September of 2000. Although he is gone, I am one of the luckiest men in the world for having had him in my life for so many years. I am also grateful for my mother. She always puts things into perspective. She asked me to change my focus and gave me some things to think about. For instance, If you can see, talk and walk, if you have friends, family, and opportunity ...

The innocence of a child

That same night, 8-year-old Nathan Maier won a brand new bike and helmet during a raffle held exclusively for kids 12 and under. Like every young person, this kid was so excited to have won. When we presented the bike to him, he indicated that he already had a bike. We were proud to inform him that now he has two bikes. As the evening went on, the dealership gave away flat screen TVs, Quartz watches, and cash, and then decided to give every kid in attendance an unwrapped toy. At the end of the evening, we were shocked when ...

Keeping business local

Phil Waterford does not want to take for granted the good things that the Good Lord has already blessed his dealership with. When you plant a seed there is typically a harvest. The harvest that Manteca Ford has received has been abundant. "All of our needs have been met and it's truly an honor to give back to our community and to humanity". A lot of people don't realize the impact of conducting business in your own city and community. When you conduct business in Manteca the tax dollars stay in the city and help offset many expenses ...

Infiniti EX: Pretty styling, persuasive ways

The Infiniti EX35 is a cleverly disguised tall wagon with a lot of cargo capacity, roomy front-seat area and somewhat snug back-seat room. The EX is an ideal downsize vehicle for parents exiting the minivan phase or professionals who need more capacity than a sedan.
