Manteca Judo looking for strong showing in Nationals

After putting together a strong showing during the California Judo Championships in San Francisco in May, three of the Manteca Judo Club standouts are looking to put their talents on the national stage during the 2010 United States Junior National Championships in Irvine this weekend.

Standout Delta DB named to all-state academic team

It turns out 2008 Manteca High graduate Marc Figone has the brains to go with the brawn. The 5-foot-8, 185-pound sophomore defensive back for Delta College's football team was named to the California Community Colleges/Football Coaches Association academic all-state team last week. Figone and fellow Mustang teammate Casey McCurdy, a wide receiver, are two of 27 players selected from a pool of about 4,000 California community college football players.
