Edna was born in North Tonawanda, NY, the sixth of seven daughters born to the late Pauline Paige Mathews and Thomas Mathews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Leo in 1985, and by six sisters and brothers-in-law, a niece and several nephews.
Mark Berryman passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 7, 2013, after a long and courageous health battle. Virgil Arland Small Jr. of Manteca passed away on November 6, 2013 of natural causes. He was 83. A native of Oakland, Virgil grew up in Hayward and attended Hayward High School. He served his country as a U.S. Navy Seabee during the Korean Conflict. He participated at both the Inchon landing and the evacuation after the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. Barbara I. Scott, 75, entered into rest on October 30, 2013 in Manteca, CA. She was born on August 10, 1938 in San Francisco, CA where she attended Presentation Elementary, Presentation High School and City College . She is preceded in death by her husband Stanley F. Scott. As matriarch of a large family, she is survived by her four children, Leighanne Moon, Lisa Redmond, Lori Scott-Nunes, Jim Cochran and their loving spouses and children. Barbara was blessed to enjoy time with her 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She has one surviving sister, Sharon O'Donnell.

Ella Belle (Belle) Lightburn, 95, passed away in Ripon, CA on October 28, 2013. She was the only child of Marion Keys Harvey Wiese and James Harvey. Belle was born in Brockway, PA and lived there until she was eight. She remembered flipping the switch to turn on the town's first electricity at a plant owned by her grandfather, William Keys. She then moved to Long Beach, CA. It was here that the great earthquake (6.5) of 1933 leveled her Poly High School, forcing students into improvised classrooms.
Leslie Reile, age 88, entered into rest on October 31, 2013, in Modesto. He was born on June 18, 1925, in Jamestown, ND, to the late Fred and Caroline Hauff Reile. Leslie is also preceded in death by his wife, Giesela. He was a resident of Ceres, and previously of Stockton. He is survived by his nieces, Sandra, Cheree, Misty and Gabriella all of Ceres.

Manteca resident of 45 years, Florence Vierra,108, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2013 at Bethany Home in Ripon. Mrs. Vierra was a native of San Jose, California. She moved to Tracy with her family when she was just 10 years old living there 49 years before moving to Manteca around 1965. She continued to live there until health reasons made her move to Bethany Home in Ripon. She spent most of her life taking great care of her family and was a parishioner of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Manteca.

LaVerne leaves behind her children: Kay Miller (Ray); Terry Riegle; and Karen Ortiz (Donnie). She was blessed with five grandchildren: Kyle Miller; Kristopher Miller; Robbie Orlando; Ryann Christensen; Janna Miller; and twelve great-grandchildren. Chester (Chet) Arthur Esenwein Jr. passed away early on Saturday from natural causes, after major surgery. He was 77 years old. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on Oct. 8, 1936. He spent four years in the U.S. Navy where he earned his veteran status in the Vietnam War. He was well known as the best auto detailer in Manteca, owning his own detail business for many years.
