Mary Macedo Stanley, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 4. A resident of Manteca for over 70 years, she was born April 1, 1918 in Weed, California, to the late Carlos and Ricardina Ramos of the Azores. Mary worked as a retail clerk in her earlier years at Rexall Pharmacies and Merle Norman in Manteca. In Heaven she joins her husband of 57 years, Manuel Macedo; her second husband, Matt Stanley; son, Richard Macedo; and twin brothers, Frank and Bill Ramos.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Peggy Short and Mary Lynd, her brother, James Lynd and her daughter Kathy Whitney.

Joan Mistlin, 92, of Ripon, CA passed away peacefully on May 31, 2014, in the loving care of Bethany Home, surrounded by most of her family. She was born on December 13, 1921 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Wilma and Herbert Hildebrandt. She grew up in Normal, Illinois. During the war she worked on the Manhattan Project and then joined the U.S. Marines, serving as an aviation mechanic from 1943 to 1945.
