Richard "Rick" LeRoy Hawk, 58, passed away suddenly on October 16, 2009 in Manteca. He was born June 8, 1951 in Portland, Oregon, to Nevin & Virginia Hawk. His early years were spent in Oregon, growing up in Clatskanie and Rainier. It was August 1964 when his parents decided to move to California, he has now called Manteca home for over 45 years.
Douglas J. Horton, 73, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2009. Doug retired from Manteca High School as a math teacher. He was born on June 14, 1936. He enjoyed playing bridge at Oak Park Senior Center. Doug loved being a dedicated teacher and also coaching athletics. He received a Certificate of Recognition The John R. Williams Award.
Ruby A. Deaton, 90, entered into rest on October 18, 2009 at Doctor's Hospital of Manteca. She was born on September 6, 1919 in Ola, Arkansas to the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard & Faye Merritt. She was preceded in death by one grandson Jeff Deaton and her husband Boyd Deaton. Ruby was a resident of Lathrop for 33 years.
Beloved wife of Frank H. McKinnon (deceased), devoted mother of Sharon A. Phillips, cherished grandmother of Deborah Phillips, Bethany Zepeda, Jennifer Batchler, Megan Hackney, John Phillips, Matt Phillips and Kimberly Orlando. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was the treasured cousin of Sandra Boietenbacker, Linda Hoff and their families.

Fred W. Leuenberger, 87, entered into rest on October 7, 2009, in Manteca, California. He was born on September 15, 1922, to Swiss immigrants, Fred and Marie Leuenberger who settled in Wisconsin as dairy farmers. He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as, one sister, Hilda Leuenberger. Fred was a resident of Manteca for 29 years.
Robert Miller Pinol, 81, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 in Manteca. He was born on June 15, 1928 in New London, Connecticut to the late Francisco and Lydia Winnetta (Miller) Pinol. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Betty J. Pinol; sons, Bruce Pinol and wife Terry of Bay Point, William S. Pinol of Escalon. Grandchildren, Christina Lewis, Ambra J. Junqueiro, Sheilah Pacheco, Chrystal Pinol, Zachary Pinol, and Benjamin Pinol and 4 great-grandchildren.
Everett Clair Wentworth, 93, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away at his home on September 30, 2009. He was born in Cresco, Iowa on June 26, 1916 and traveled to Gilroy, California with his parents and three brothers in 1924. He attended local schools in Gilroy and graduated from Gilroy High School in 1934 where he lived for 84 years. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Wentworth for 69 years. He and Margaret had moved to Manteca two years ago to be closer to their family.
James Albert Gilley, 46, was born in Manteca on April 27, 1963. He attended Manteca High School from 1978 to 1980, before enlisting in the U.S. Navy at age 17. He died unexpectedly on Friday, September 25, 2009 at Camp Delta, Al Kut Iraq, where he served as the Health, Safety, and Environmental coordinator for military contractor Kellog, Brown and Root at the multi-national air base.
