Joyce Elaine McKenzie, was called home August 7, 2015 after an 18-month battle with cancer. Born March 21, 1937 she was a tiny woman, who had the spirit of a warrior and lived her life with grace always in service of others. An amazing role model we will remember her caring and generous nature; the friendships nurtured and the family bonds strengthened.
Carole grew up in Manteca, the youngest in a close-knit family of seven siblings. She attended local schools and graduated from Manteca Union High School, where she was active in student government and sports. While working at the Manteca Telephone Co., she met her husband, John Cameron Smith, on a blind date arranged by co-workers. On that first date he held open the car door and said, "Hop in, shorty." Cary Edna Jackson, 89, of Lathrop, CA passed away July 26, 2015 at Meadowood Health and Rehab Center. Cary was born December 23, 1925 to the late Alma Clisby and the late Willie James Hughes. Cary lived in the Akron, Ohio community for over 50 years, and has resided in Lathrop, California for the last 10 years. She was married to the late James Benjamin Jackson for 23 years.
Manuel De Jesus Alvarado was born February 10, 1951, in El Salvador. He has four daughters; Irma, Delia, Ana and Norma Alvarado and son, Carlos Saavedra. Manuel was an educated man that came to this country to seek a future for his children, he worked in the fields and taught English as a second language as well as helping those who needed a GED to accomplish their education.
Thomas Albert Brockman, "Al," was born on August 6, 1915 in Lathrop, CA and passed away May 18, 2015. He was raised on a dairy farm getting up at 4:00 to milk all the cows by hand. He volunteered to serve in the Marine Corp during WWII in 1944. Al was the last man to drive a six horse drawn Fresno scraper leveling land in the San Joaquin Valley. He retired from the California State Hwy. division and moved to Wellington, NV with his wife Millie.
Peter John Bolton, 69, entered into rest on Friday, July 10, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 5, 1945 in Marysville, CA. In heaven he joins his parents, Eugene and Helen Bolton as well as his sister Anne Lawman.
