Howard E. Huntley, 98, of Lathrop, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2009. He was born July 20, 1911 in Oakdale; he was the second of five children of the late Lyman & Ila Huntley. He lived in San Francisco for 33 years and retired from the City in 1973, where he worked for 25 years as a truck driver. He loved living in the city but in 1975 his wife Nellie persuaded him to move to Lathrop, where his ancestors were early settlers. A year after moving, his beloved wife of 28 years passed away.

She started working in the school cafeteria system and retired after a 30 year career as Food Service Director for the Manteca School District. Following her retirement, she and her husband Herman traveled extensively from Alaska to Florida.
