Martin "Marty" Hill, Sr., 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 with his family by his side. He was born July 13, 1933 in Fruitland, ID, to Levi and Eva Hill. He worked many years as a sawyer in the saw mills in Idaho. Once moving back to the Valley in the late 1980s he settled in Manteca and owned and operated his own Shell Station.

Stanley E. Lewis, 30, of Ripon, passed away on, Thursday, April 30, 2009, at home in Ripon. He was born on September 18, 1978 in Stockton and lived in San Joaquin County for 25 years.
Efren P. Juarez, 90, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 2, 2009. He was born June 10, 1918 in Santa Fe. Mich., Mexico. He was a resident of Manteca for over 60 years. He leaves behind his adoring wife of nearly 65 years, Maria R. Juarez of Manteca; and six children; Roy Juarez and wife Rachel, DeeDee Limas and husband Danny, Salvador Juarez and wife Judy, Mary Denuit, Lucille Juarez Del Toro and husband Raul, Lupe Archibeque and husband Danny, all of Manteca. He was also blessed with 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Patrick W. Simmons, 54, a resident of Wilsall, Montana for the past three years and a former longtime Tracy resident, died Sunday afternoon, April 26, 2009, as the result of injuries he sustained in a single vehicle automobile accident just south of Wilsall. He left this world too suddenly for those who loved him. Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory in Livingston. Family services will be held at a later date.
Leith Henry Todd, 89, was a resident of Manteca for over 30 years. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in Mesa, Arizona. He was born Sept. 2, 1919 in Big Heart, Oklahoma. He was raised in Modesto and lived most of his life in the valley until moving to Arizona in 2005.
Clair A. Weast was born in Modesto on October 13, 1913, Clair passed away in Manteca on April 27, 2009. He lived 72 of his 95 years in San Joaquin County.

Nita Sheldon, age 80, of Manteca, CA passed away Friday, January 10, 2014, at her residence. She was born in James Town, North Dakota on December 13, 1933. Nita worked as a mail carrier at Sharps Army Depot for over 30 years. In her younger years she camped and fished often. Nita was an avid shopper and loved to dine out for breakfast or lunch. She loved her four dogs whole heartedly, and donated often to the SPCA and Humane Society.

Tommy Douglas Spor, 79, passed away on Dec 27, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, CA. Tom was born in Norwood, CO. He and his family later moved to Manteca, CA where he went to high school and met his beautiful wife, Jeannette Valdez, with whom he had three daughters. Tom enlisted in the Army in 1956 becoming a helicopter mechanic and was stationed in Italy for a three year tour. He was also recognized as a Marksman. Evelyn Carter Klippel passed away at the age of 93, in a local hospital on December 19, 2013. She was born in Palisade, Neb. on December 16, 1920. She graduated from Palisade High School and entered nurses training at St. Luke's Hospital in Denver, Colo. Following graduation she worked in the hospital in Imperial, Neb. In October of 1943 she enlisted in the US Navy at lieutenant (JG) and served in the South Pacific as a Navy nurse. Following her discharge she married the late William A. Klippel.
