Eleanor Elizabeth Milan, 90, born Dec. 4, 1918 in Oakland, California to Belinda and Elbert Griggs and comfortably passed Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009. She was the oldest of 7 children. She married Peter Milan on Sept. 4, 1937. At the time of his passing last year they were married a month shy of 71 years. They lived their married life in Hayward and upon retiring moved to Manteca.
Carla Lynn Johnson was employed at K-Mart in Manteca for nine years in the shipping and receiving department and leaves many friends there. Carla graduated from Manteca High School in 1979. Prior to going to work for K-Mart she was employed as a cosmetologist at a local salon. She lived for a short time in Walnut Grove as a child before moving to Manteca with her family.
Anthony Blake Garcia (Tony), 49, recent resident of Lathrop, joined our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a valiant battle with numerous ailments on Saturday, Nov. 14. Tony was born in Livermore on March 14, 1960.
Gary Dwayne Crumb, 64, of Manteca, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009 in Manteca. Gary was born on May 17, 1945, in Alhambra, California. He was a truck driver for over 40 years and retired from Cherokee Freight Lines in Stockton, California. Gary's family and friends were the highlight of his life. He enjoyed listening to stories of his daughters' military and police careers, reminiscing about trucks, classic cars, and NASCAR.
Guadalupe Lopez, 83, entered into rest on Sunday, November 15, in Manteca. She was born in Canutillo Texas, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Guillermo and Josefa Rodriguez on May 30, 1926. She joins her husband in heaven Vicente Lopez, as well as her daughter, Rosa (Lopez) Arechiga and her siblings Guillermo Rodriguez Jr. and Velia Rodriguez. Guadalupe was a resident of Manteca for 15 years.
Sandra "Sandy" Faye Campbell went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 14, after an extended illness. Sandy was born in San Diego, California, on January 26, 1945 to Martha and William Campbell. She was the fifth of what would eventually be 10 siblings. She was raised primarily in San Diego but moved around several times eventually settling in Livermore in 1979. Paul P. Verdegaal passed away peacefully on Nov. 14, 2009, at his Ripon residence at the age of 80. Paul was born Oct. 24, 1929 in Noordwijkerhout, Holland and has lived here in Ripon, CA, for the last 60 years. Paul grew up in Holland during WWII and boarded a freighter ship with his mother and siblings to make their way to the United States during his early teens.
