In addition to her parents she also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur P. Smith Sr., of 47 years; a son, Gerald Medlock, a daughter, Shirley Hicks; her brother, John F. Banks, and two sisters, Lucille Medlock and Hazel Shirley. Bernice was a resident of Manteca for 60 years.

She moved to San Leandro in 1961 and lived there with her family until they moved to Manteca, where she has resided the past 11 years. Bonnie is preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Del Cima and Shirley Oswell.

She graduated with highest honors from San Benito High School and attended San Joaquin Delta College. Married for over 57 years to her husband, Claude, with whom she had five children, she was both homemaker and manager of her husband's optometry practice. She was a founding member of Manteca Quilters.

Nita Sheldon, age 80, of Manteca, CA passed away Friday, January 10, 2014, at her residence. She was born in James Town, North Dakota on December 13, 1933. Nita worked as a mail carrier at Sharps Army Depot for over 30 years. In her younger years she camped and fished often. Nita was an avid shopper and loved to dine out for breakfast or lunch. She loved her four dogs whole heartedly, and donated often to the SPCA and Humane Society.

She graduated from Palisade High School and entered nurses training at St. Luke's Hospital in Denver, Colo. Following graduation she worked in the hospital in Imperial, Neb.
