SACRAMENTO - In what has evolved into the trademark dream season, Sierra High sprinter Shakira Lewis brought her decorated first track season to a close with an 8th place finish in the 100-meters at the California Interscholastic Federation State Track & Field Championships Saturday.
Entering the girls 100-meter preliminary heats Friday in the CIF State Track and Field Championships at Buchanan High in Clovis, Shakira Lewis was just the No. 25-seeded qualifier. By the time the three preliminary heats were complete, Lewis had definitely garnered some attention.
They did the dirty work and the heavy lifting for Sierra High sports teams for the 2011-12 school year.
Shakira Lewis has at least one more race to run in her first and only season as a track athlete for Sierra High.
