The Sierra High varsity baseball team overcame a sluggish start by finishing strong in the 13-3 victory over visiting Modesto Christian on Wednesday.

Jerrica Hauck broke the East Union pole vault record in dramatic fashion Wednesday at Sierra High's Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium, but it was the host Timberwolves' girls team, led by distance runner Katelyn Carbiener, that squeaked out a much-needed win to open the Valley Oak League season.

Late collapse costs Lathrop

LATHROP – In the opening stages of Lathrop High's nonleague contest with the Ripon Indians, Lathrop looked evenly matched with the Ripon, holding the lead for the game's first four innings. Ripon eventually took over in a major way, closing its 17-2 win with 14 runs in the last two at bats.

T’Wolves fall via tie-breaker

The Valley Oak League schedule got underway Tuesday, and Sierra High did everything it needed to do to open the season with a win. Its match with Kimball High finished in a tie, resorting to a tie-breaker method that left Sierra coping with the loss at Uninon Road Tennis Courts.
