The Sierra High sophomore girls basketball team had a chance to claim at least a share of the Valley Oak League crown - and all but wrap up the title outright - with a win at East Union Thursday night.
Don't look now, but the East Union Lancers are putting together a nice little run.

LATHROP – Erica Sanchez netted 16 points and Jasmine Elder added 12 Saturday at Lathrop High, but it wouldn't be enough, as the Manteca sophomore girls basketball team feasted in the paint and pulled out a 55-41 win.
Manteca sophomore Kiwi Gardner was already red hot, but he passed up a wide-open 3-pointer to let an ice-cold teammate attempt the biggest shot of the game.
WESTON RANCH – The last time the Weston Ranch Cougars took on East Union, they breezed their way to a victory with a commanding 20-point margin, 60-40.
RIVERBANK - Daniel Van De Pol scored 16 of his game-high 18 in the second half Friday night as Ripon Christian upended Riverbank for the second time this season, 55-50.
WESTON RANCH – TeeJay Gordon led the way to victory for the East Union sophomore boys basketball team Friday night, 45-36, at Weston Ranch.

RIPON – When the Ripon Indians fell to the Hughson Huskies in their first matchup on Jan. 20, they did so without starting senior and floor general Jessica Blythe who was out with a back injury.
East Union had one run taken away and gift wrapped another for Tracy in a 2-1 eight-inning loss at Agostini Field on Wednesday.
GALT - In the end, the Capital Christian press was just too much to handle as the Cougars started on an 8-0 run and never trailed in a 56-38 win over Ripon Christian in the semifinals of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V girls basketball championships at Galt High's Warrior Gymnasium.
Matt Rose led five Sierra players who produced sub-50 scores in a 217-317 win over visiting Weston Ranch on Wednesday.

Weston Ranch put together a solid all-around effort in its season-opener at Stagg on Wednesday, winning decisively, 8-1.
