PATTERSON – With another 20 point performance under his belt, freshman phenom Jordan Kron steered the East Union Lancers roll past the Patterson Tigers, winning 69-65 in non-league action Tuesday night at Dalben Center.
MODESTO – Sierra High did just about everything right, reeling off its second consecutive victory in a 44-35 win over the Beyer Patriots.
PATTERSON – With Brock Swift's 18 points leading the way, the East Union sophomore basketball team cruised to a 39-29 victory in Patterson Tuesday night.
Manteca native Brian Rohles followed his best season with an even better one.
STOCKTON - East Union High's varsity wrestling team got its usual strong efforts from some of its top middle-weight grapplers during the Bear Creek Tournament at Delta College Saturday, but the best finishes came from others.
Running back Jarrod Daniels set program records and helped Sierra High's football team make history this past 2009 season.
WESTON RANCH – Beating Golden valley High in the Cougar Duals Tournament championship match would have been nice, but the Weston Ranch Cougars will settle for a 4-1 record and the division II tournament title.
STOCKTON – Closing out the 32nd Annual Stagg Delta Queen Basketball Tournament as back-to-back champions was important to the Weston Ranch Cougars and their 34-29 win over the Bear Creek Bruins gave the team its goal with a consecutive tournament title.
ELK GROVE – The Weston Ranch Cougars handed a Reno High a sturdy fight, but a last second push from Reno provided the difference in the Cougars' 61-49 loss in the Mark Macres Tournament consolation championship.
With 4.4 seconds remaining in the contest the Manteca Buffaloes strolled out of their final timeout with only one chance at victory. The chance became reality when sophomore Jaqi Gutierrez nailed a desperation 3-pointer as time expired, sending the Buffaloe faithful into frenzy and the Pitman Pride home with a 57-55 loss.
STOCKTON – The East Union Lancers took on teams complete with wrestlers in each weight class, but were able to do battle short-staffed, still competing during the team-dual portion of the Bear Creek Tournament Friday at Delta College.
STOCKTON – The Weston Ranch Cougars wasted little time punching their ticket back to the Stagg Tournament championship, jumping out to a 10 point halftime lead before knocking off the host Delta Queens 68-49 in the tournament semi-final.
TURLOCK – The opportunity was there, but Manteca High was unable to take advantage.
LODI – The Cougars held a six-point halftime lead and they would not relinquish their lead, fighting off a stubborn Lincoln High of Stockton squad 57-53 to land a spot in the Tokay Tournament consolation championship.
GALT - The Hack-a-Shaq tactic didn't work for Chavez of Stockton in its Galt Warrior Classic opener against Ripon Christian Thursday.
Weston Ranch busted out of the halftime break with a 6-0 spurt and didn't look back in a 64-46 win over International in the West Coast Jamboree Coral Division consolation championship at Antioch's Deer Valley High School.
