LODI – When the Manteca High baseball team sent 14 batters to the plate and pushed across nine runs in the top of the first inning victory seemed like an afterthought, but that was far from the case as the Central Catholic Raiders fought valiantly only to succumb 13-8 in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division-IV playoffs Thursday.

Simpson lands Goulart on softball scholarship

In her four years of athletics at East Union High, senior Jillian Goulart had little difficulty shinning on a softball field or on a golf course. Now the graduating Lancer will narrow her responsibilities to just one sport, as she signed a letter of intent to play softball for the Simpson University Red Hawks in Redding.

MODESTO – When Jerrica Hauck quietly slipped onto the scene a year ago in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III Track and Field Trials at Modesto Junior College she won the meet with a personal best 10-foot vault. This year Hauck was on her own personal stage, leading the crowd like at a concert and winning the meet – with another personal record.
