Twenty years ago, on May 19, 1990, the "old" Tony Dominguez returned to the ring - which meant he didn't stay there very long. The professional boxer from Manteca only needed two solid connections with his powerful left hand to send Canada's Allan Harper crashing to the canvas in the first round of the 152-pound main event at the Stockton Civic Auditorium. Frankie Teicheira, second sacker, and Perry Tipton, catcher, led the Buffalo hitters for the afternoon with a trio of singles in five trips to the plate.

20 years ago: May 9, 1990 - Befitting a team that plowed through the opposition with a perfect record, Manteca High dominated the list of all-VOL tennis honorees announced Monday night by the league's coaches. Banks got the nod on the basis of his 25-2 record.
