Editor, Manteca Bulletin, I grew up in the Powers Tract area of the community, so I can identify with the overgrown weeds and unpaved alleys of the subdivision. Unfortunately, that was almost fifty years ago, and conditions have not changed. As you point out, the alleys are still overgrown with weeds and unpaved with potholes. And, the residents (those that venture into the alley) still remove the weeds and occasionally fill the potholes.
CNN's Jake Tapper kicked off his new hosting gig on the Sunday news show "State of the Union" featuring an interview with Bill Clinton, arranged through his Clinton Global Initiative. It's a big name, but a tough start for a serious journalist. With the exception of his infamous snorting, knee-jabbing performance with Chris Wallace in 2006, the former president has negotiated a succession of journalistic foot-rubs surrounding his tightly scripted Global shindigs.
