To his credit, Superintendent Jason Messer turned this perk down. That's not the point. Do you see how this example further illustrates my point of fiscal mismanagement and anti-children policy at the district level?
Uncle Sam is turning into the relative who undermines good parenting by lavishing kids with expensive gifts, giving them candy before dinner and letting them stay up until all hours of the night and ignore basic disciplines like doing you homework and chores.
The decision to cut home-to-school busing inside a 1.25-mile radius for elementary students and a 2.5-mile radius for high school students around Manteca Unified campuses was clear in terms of who gets a ride and who doesn't.
