WESTON RANCH – When Weston Ranch class of 2009 valedictorian Winnie Bahn first started off as a Cougar four years ago, she sat alone at lunch for the first three months of school.
Lathrop School brings back tradition with 8th-grade promotion ceremonies
Monday morning, Lathrop Elementary kicked off their week of Promotion Activities. Lathrop began their day with a breakfast, organized by parent volunteers, in the gym for all students making promotion and their parents.
70 PIZZAS FOR 400 KIDS
The Lincoln School winners of the City of Manteca recycling contest for collecting the most cans and bottles had a pizza party Thursday with 70 pizzas from Round Table Pizza. More than 400 kindergarten through fourth graders enjoyed pizza.

209 teachers definitely losing jobs
Manteca Unified will issue final lay-off notices to 209 teachers by June 15. The district rescinded layoff notices to another 52 teachers that originally received them in March. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invites the community to attend the Crystal Apple Awards on Friday, May 3, at 7 p.m. at the Northland Chapel, 6060 Northland Ave., in Manteca. The event will recognize and honor the outstanding educators in the various high schools in Ripon, Tracy and Manteca.
