I was likely the only person in Northern California who could not stop thinking about Dwight Eugene Gooden during the San Francisco Giants' victory parade Wednesday in San Francisco. It was a young, gifted Gooden who escorted me towards my newfound greatest moment in sports.

Anglers, it’s duck hunting season again

Duck hunters, beware. There are going to be anglers out on the water and you must not disturb their fishing areas. Unfortunately, it's the anglers that must beware as duck hunting season is now open. Over the years I've developed a sort of love-hate relationship with duck hunters. Once the hunting season ends many of the hunters' blinds are abandoned until the next year. Oh, warm clothing and frozen poo

Since Manteca Unified School District has more high school students than Prince of Wales Island has residents you probably didn't hear about the 75-mile per hour winds that knocked out power on the entire island, isolating it from mail and cutting ATM machines off from the money bags that supply them. I contemplated calling mom's school weak for giving kids and teachers the day off in light of there being no power, because we've gone without power here for part of the school day, but the argument was a little too unreasonable.
