The Knight is young

The numbers are staggering: •210 rushes, 1,718 yards (8.2 per carry), 28 touchdowns - all new single-season school records. •34 receptions, 566 yards, six touchdowns - all team-highs. •18 kickoff returns, 672 yards (37.3 per attempt), two touchdowns. •Five interceptions, two returned for scores. •Forty all-purpose touchdowns. Livingston spoils Ripon’s first playoff home game since 1993

RIPON – It all came down to a single drive. Down two points with just over five minutes left in the game, the Ripon Indians knew that their hopes for advancing in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Division IV playoffs rested in the 50 yards between the line of scrimmage and the end zone. STAYING GROUNDED

Manteca High's committee approach has worked wonders. Ripon rolls with a potent thunder-and-lightning combination. And Ripon Christian boasts one dynamic back who has set school rushing records - as a sophomore. It's no coincidence that the three squads have qualified for the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs. Each is dangerous with the pass, but it all starts on the ground. Manteca has been spoiled at the running back position in recent seasons with 1,000-yard rushers such as ...

Junior varsity Chiefs claim Trans-Valley title

The junior varsity squad of the Ripon Chiefs was crowned Super Bowl champions last Sunday. In the Trans-Valley Youth Football League's AFC title game, the Chiefs edged the Central Saints in Mariposa, 14-13. Coached by Curt Daggett, Ripon came prepared to play. Indicative of that was Matthew DeDonatis making a deep tackle on the opening kickoff. Defense played a role throughout the game. Alex Padilla caused a fumble early on and Ryan Wilson recovered the ...

Manteca makes it look easy

Closing out a season with a Valley Oak League championship is difficult enough, but doing so and remaining perfect along the way is even more so. The Manteca Buffaloes freshman football team was able to do just that after closing the season with a 47-6 win over host East Union High.

Nothing easy in Buffaloes’ win over East Union
