Manteca Youth Entertainers (formerly known as the Manteca Royal Family) are recruiting vocalists and dancers for the 2014 season.

Chances are you have seen “those kids dancing in crowns and medals” or perhaps in a “rainbow array of poodle skirts” at local fairs, festivals and celebrations including the Manteca 4th of July Parade, San Joaquin Fair, Sunrise Kiwanis Pumpkin Fair and Crossroads Street Fair, just to name a few. At the height of its popularity the group was invited to perform all over Northern California and Lake Tahoe, Nevada all the way to the California State Fair in Cal Expo. The group has featured some of the best and brightest talent to come out of our community including vocalists like Cheyenne Milligan, Matthew Vaughan, Katelyn Johnson, Amanda Rosas, Robyn Glover, Stephanie Hilson, Ashley Parker, Kellie Kotch-Mendoza, Kristina Priest-Stamper, Jordan Renfro and dancers like Emma Henry-Birlew, James Reed, Amber Adams-Dixon, Ashley Gerstel, Tiffany Gerstel-Douglas, acey Gerstel-Chamberlain, Cipriana Lopez, Taela Heath, Kristina Candelaria, and Emma Scott.

The group is under the  guidance of Shim Lacy-Watson and featuring returning alumni Kristina Candelaria and John Igisiair in leadership roles and serving as Entertainer Coordinators.

They are currently seeking youth between the ages of 9-21 as of July 1 who would like to volunteer for their entertainment division. The summer session will kick off this Sunday, June 1, with the Skills Assessment at 3 p.m. and Orientation at 5 p.m. at the McFall Room in the Manteca Public Library on West Center Street. No previous performance experience is required. The cost to participate is $25 per session and a one-time $50 costume deposit. The summer session will meet on Sundays in June and July (excluding Fathers’ Day) and concludes with performances at the Manteca 4th of July Parade and California State Fair later in July.
