• TEACHER’S ALLEGED IMPROPER BEHAVIOR DECLARED UNFOUNDED: The complaint against a teacher involving improper behavior with a student at an elementary school in south Manteca has been declared as unfounded.

Manteca Unified Deputy Superintendent Clark Burke said the incident was investigated by law enforcement authorities and has been “found to be unfounded.”

The alleged incident took place before the end of the school year. The teacher in the complaint was not a member of the school staff, but was an employee of the San Joaquin County Office of Education. Such teaching arrangements are not unusual. The school district runs a number of county-based programs conducted at various school sites. These programs run from special education to ROP (Regional Occupational program) classes.

The investigation revolved around whether there was any wrongdoing that transpired between the county employee and the elementary school students.

Clark said the school district responded to the concern in the same manner they do for all complaints brought to their attention.

“We take them all very seriously,” Burke said.

The cause of death is awaiting the outcome of toxicology reports, according to Sheriff’s spokesman Les Garcia. Investigators said they weren’t suspecting foul play in the death.
