The Bethany Home Society in Ripon has something for just about anyone facing their retirement years within its 23-acre campus.
“We’re not all Dutch,” Bethany Homes CEO Cindy Scheublein told Ripon Rotarians quipped during their Wednesday noon meeting at Spring Creek Country Club. “Everyone is welcome, and, yes, we do have vacancies.”
Besides its nursing care facility,  Bethany  boasts its Town Square Apartments, Sunset Cottages, Manor Apartments, Bethany Home Assisted Care and Adult Day Care that is available three days each week — Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Probably the most familiar to Ripon residents are the outside apartments seen to the side and to the south of the nursing home and indoor complex of apartments.
The Town Square Apartment complex is situated across Main Street from the original and present site of the nursing facility. It includes a large heated indoor pool that is used for therapy of its residents and community members alike for a minimal monthly charge.
Single one and two bedroom cottages are located to the north and west of the two story building.  A gate in the security fencing allows residents to walk to the nearby grocery store and drug store along with the Post Office.
Beth Haven Assisted Care is to the south of the main nursing home complex on Wilma Avenue and across from the Senior Citizens complex, just beyond the Memory Care Facility.  The assisted care administrator is a registered nurse.  Memory Care’s two buildings are designed to accommodate those with memory illnesses such as Alzheimers.  It is staffed with one staffer per four residents.  Just a few hundred feet down Wilma Avenue and west to Fourth Street are additional cottages with single car garages designed to be more like homes.
The Adult Day Care facility is situated just across from the home’s main parking lot on Second Street and operates three days a week.
“We are a multi-care retirement community,” Scheublein said.  “We are a Christian-based faith community, 63 years old and focused on our mission statement to honor and enrich the aging experience in a secure and vibrant Christ-centered community.”
Bethany is the largest private sector employer in Ripon with 245 employees serving over 400 diverse senior citizens.  When someone moves into Bethany it’s like their family moving in with them as they are seen often around the premises.
Rotarian and Bank of Stockton assistant manager Danielle Pierce told Scheublein she had been treated well beyond expectations when walking into the nursing home to talk about her dad’s serious condition.
“They just stopped what they were doing for me,” she said.
Pierce said they not only listened but they also prayed for and with her on the spot.
