Motorcycle-sedan crash closes N. Main

Investigators look for a serial number in identifying the motorcycle where it landed against the curbing in the northbound lane of North Main Street.

A young motorcycle rider was thrown some 50 feet from his bike in a collision with a  sedan in the 600 block of North Main Street at about 2 p.m. near Argonaut Street.
The late model sports motorcycle was demolished in the crash that left a debris field spread across the roadway to where it came to rest against the northbound curbing.  Fire department and ambulance medics lifted the rider onto a gurney and put him into a Manteca District Ambulance for transport to an area trauma center.
The car was knocked backwards into the cross street area with intensive damage to the front of the car with both airbags deploying and a smashed windshield.
Fire engines and police cars blocked the roadway as officers interviewed witnesses to the crash to determine the direction of travel of both vehicles prior to the crash.
Police said the rider was stable as of 7 p.m. and hospitalized with multiple injuries.  Officers said the motorcycle was southbound on Main Street when the car pulled out and into his path.
The roadway was blocked for more than two hours to north and southbound traffic while police conducted a major injury investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.  The
