The recent wet weather could help the City of Ripon’s water conservation efforts.
As it stands, the Ripon City Council recently heard the latest water reduction figures from last month, using February 2013 as the base-line comparison.
Director of Public Works Ted Johnston noted that the City reduced water usage by 16.4 percent over February 2013 levels.
“We’re doing better,” he said. “It’s definitely in the right direction.”
Ripon was at 11.74 percent reduction for January.
The schedule for watering landscape just changed, going from a one day to a three-times per week.
All properties within the City of Ripon with an odd address are allowed to do outdoor watering on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Those with an even address within city limits can water their landscape on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
No watering will be allowed between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
This schedule is valid from March through October.
