VALLECITO — Twisted Oak Winery next summer concert on Saturday, June 14, features the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band.

“The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band was the most popular show last year, and the most requested artists to have back this year,” said winery co-owner Jeff Stai. “Who am I to buck popular opinion? These guys are one of the best bluegrass bands around.”

An easy dinner of sliders and pasta salad will be available for purchase (a vegetarian option is available), along with Twisted Oak wine, brownies, popcorn, and soft drinks. Concertgoers are welcome to bring their own picnics but they ask that no outside alcoholic beverages be brought in.

Seating at Twisted Folk concerts is outdoor festival style, first-come, first-served – bring a low beach-type chair or a blanket. They’re on top of a hill and there is always an evening breeze – it can get a little chilly after dark so plan ahead.

Twisted Oak Winery is located in the foothills of Calaveras County, and specializes in wines made from Mediterranean varieties like Tempranillo, Viognier, and Petite Sirah. The concert venue, located at the winery in Vallecito, sits on a hilltop that commands a sweeping view of the Sierra Nevada and the surrounding foothills, presided over by a 350-year old California Blue Oak that graces the label of every wine we bottle.

The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band consists of outstanding musicians with over 100 years of combined recording and performance experience. Joining guitarist Peter Rowan are Keith Little, banjo; Chris Henry, mandolin; Blaine Sprouse, violin; and Paul Knight, bass. The ensemble has graced the stages of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Grey Fox, Merlefest, Rothbury Australia’s National Folk Festival, and numerous other festivals domestically and abroad, entertaining audiences with original and traditional songs executed in vibrant harmony.
