Planning for the 24th annual Mayor’s Art Show and Sale is currently in the works.

The City of Lathrop Parks and Recreation Department along with the art show committee are once again organizing this event with the purpose of displaying works of art for the community.

One piece may be purchased by the City for its permanent collection in the Joyce Gatto Art Gallery. The price will not exceed $500

Entries will be accepted at the Lathrop City Hall, 390 Towne Centre Drive, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 28, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 29.

The fee is $10 per entry and all pieces submitted must be available for sale. A 10 percent commission will be paid t the City of  Lathrop for all art work that is sold.

A maximum of three entries may be submitted per participants. The city reserves the right to decide what entries will be displayed. Those not displayed will have the entry fee returned.

The top works will be recognized, including the Mayor’s Art Purchase Award, first-place category awards, sponsor awards, and the people’s and student choice awards.

Artwork will be displayed for public viewing from May 1 through May 9 plus May 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and May 11 from noon to 2 p.m. at Lathrop City Hall. There is no viewing on May 10.

A reception for artists and invited guests is planned for Friday, May 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be provided by the Mayor’s Art Show Committee.
