Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
The MRPS Hall was filled with the Christmas Spirit on Dec. 17 as the USMC Cpl Charles O. Palmer II Memorial Troop Support Program put on the 2nd Annual Christmas and Caring Ball.  This is the primary fundraiser to continue the support of our Troops deployed, families awaiting their return and Veterans that may need a hand-up.
Additionally, the program supports local units in the area: Army National Guard, Army Aviation Group, currently serving Military.  When the opportunity allows, we meet with Gold Start Families in hopes to provide some comfort after losing their loved one.
In attendance at the Ball was Assemblyman Heath Flora, Frank Damrell, a senior representative of Democrat State Senator Cathleen Galgiani, Mayors Steve DeBrum, Manteca and Robert Rickman, Tracy as well as currently serving Military and VFW Post 6311, Manteca. And we could go on forever.  The USMC Color Guard posted the colors.  I think when people see Marines they are always in awe.
Over the year of 2016, we have helped with building a pantry for our Troops coming into the area with food and other necessities.  Just recently one of the units called and indicated that they had a family that could us some Christmas cheer.  It is good to say yes, we can help.  It’s what we do!! These families’ morale is the same as on the battle field.  Nice to know there is someone that cares about their service and well-being.
It is the support from our communities that make all this possible.  For nearly 9 years, you have stepped up and helped us support others.  It doesn’t matter which county or city, you have been there.  I wish to share a couple of many letters that we received:

u“I received a care package yesterday from your group, because my roommate received two and shared one with me.  I just wanted to say thank you for the time and effort you took to show your support for those of us deployed.  This is my third deployment and every time I go I am blown away by the caring expressed by strangers to let us know that we are missed and supported.”

uSo good to hear from you! I apologize for the late response; this past month was very hectic over here and had a difficult time getting time to sit down to write a letter or type an email…..  We plan to be here for several more months, so your continued kindness keeps my Soldier’s morale as high as it will go in this rough environment….. Please stay safe and thank you again for you continued support of 3rd Platoon, Fox Company, 2-506 IN.”

With your support, we can continue to make a difference in our Troops lives.  Remember the motto: “Honor the Fallen, Remember the Fighting, Thank the Veteran”.  And thank you for your support.  “3rd Annual Ball” is in the planning stage!!  Donations can be posted on PayPal account or mailed to Cpl Palmer II MTSP, 617 Park Ave, Manteca CA 95337.
Additionally, you can now support us through United Way of San Joaquin County. Make sure that you write in our organization: Cpl Palmer II MTSP so it will come to us.
