Brown, Neuse lift Stockton over San Jose

STOCKTON (AP) — Seth Brown homered and tripled, scoring two runs as the Stockton Ports topped the San Jose Giants 6-4 on Thursday.

Sheldon Neuse homered and singled with two RBIs for Stockton.

Nolan Blackwood got Steven Duggar to ground out with a runner on first to end the game for his 13th save of the season.

With the game tied 2-2, the Ports took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. Neuse hit a solo home run en route to the two-run lead.

The Ports later tacked on a run in both the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, Neuse hit an RBI single, while Brown hit a solo home run in the sixth.

San Jose saw its comeback attempt come up short after Jonah Arenado hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to cut the Stockton lead to 6-4.

Starter Norge Ruiz (3-0) got the win while Matt Solter (4-1) took the loss in relief in the California League game.

Arenado homered and singled, scoring two runs for the Giants.
