Ira ‘Duke’ William Sharp Jr., 72, entered into eternal rest on Wed, June 25, 2014 at Hospice of San Joaquin surrounded by his family. He was born in Amarillo, Texas, on Aug. 13, 1942, to the late Ira William Sharp Sr. and Armilda Sharp.
Awaiting Ira in heaven are his siblings, Edward Sharp and Armilda Tyree. Also waiting in heaven is Virginia Sharp, who preceded him in death.
Ira leaves behind his loving wife of 19 years, Maria Sharp, of Manteca.
He is survived by his loving children: Samantha Bocelli and husband Randy of Victorville, Ca., Lance Sharp and wife Maria of Manteca; Sandra Cruces of Manteca; and Ruby Oates and husband Nathan of Manteca. He was blessed with five grandchildren: Stephanie Padilla, Juan Cruces, Cecilia Cruces, Michelle Padilla and Cathan Sharp. In addition, Ira has two surviving siblings: Mary Brumback of Minnesota, and Patti Robison of Kansas.
Ira was a veteran serving his country proudly through the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged.  He retired after 28 years from Stewart Walker as Chief Executive Director.  All those who knew Ira felt his radiant, warm and gentle spirit.  He had such a charismatic personality that kept a smile on everyone’s face along with his sense of humor.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, but they understand that he is resting in God’s arms and he suffers no more.  God has created a place for Ira in his kingdom and our family now has another angel to watch over us.
P.L. Fry is honored to serve the Sharp family. A celebration of his life will be held at First Baptist Church, 715 East North St., Manteca on Monday June 30, 2014, at 11a.m. For condolences to the family please visit our website at www.plfryandson.com search obituaries.
