John Grimson

John Grimson, 76,  manufacturer of the Manteca Waterslides passed away
entered into rest on Friday, July 7, 2017 after a brief illness at Doctor’s Hospital in Manteca.
John was born on February 25, 1941 in Alberta, Canada where he lived until 1965 when he moved with a Canadian company to Southern California.  John and his family moved to Manteca in 1978 to open a business with Don Horal and Budge Brown called Fiberglass Shapes Ltd. to manufacture waterslides for waterparks including the Manteca Waterslides at Oakwood Lake.  In 1989 he closed his business and went to work for Panella Trucking in Stockton for seventeen years to repair and maintain their fiberglass tomato trailers.  He retired from there in 2005 after working forty-three years in the fiberglass business.
He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 55 years Sylvia (Trainor) Grimson, his son, John Grimson, his daughter, Tracie Crawford and husband Gary, his brother Allen Grimson and wife Lila, several nieces and nephews and was blessed with four wonderful grandchildren Anna, Kate, Jacob, and Taylor.
John was an active member of the Manteca Seventh-Day Adventist Church for fourteen years in which he filled his time after his retirement with many positions and activities within the church.  John was the go to guy when anything needed fixing.  He loved to travel and has spent time in forty-nine states and seven countries.  John especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and his church family and friends.   John loved fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren and treasured family dinners to celebrate birthdays.  He was a wonderful and amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he was a ray of sunshine and would drop anything he was doing to help someone else in need and expected nothing in return.  He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A service will be held on August 13, 2017 at 4:00 pm at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, at 525 S. Union Road, Manteca, CA.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
