Michele Garino Bartels

Michele Garino Bartels of Ripon, California passed away on September 1, 2017 at the age of 72.  She was born to Joseph and Marie Garino on February 14, 1945.   Michele lived her life in the Ripon area and graduated from Ripon High School in 1962. She married her high school sweetheart, Darryl Bartels, on November 16, 1963 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. During their more than 53 years of marriage, Michele was a dedicated spouse and loving mother.  She never had an idle moment. She was a member of the Ripon Garden Club for 15 years and co-president for six of those years. She was an active participant in the Catholic Church volunteering in many roles including Eucharistic Minister. Michele was a part of the 18 Hole Women’s Group at Spring Creek Golf and Country Club where she and Darryl have been members for 47 years. She belonged to an antique club, loved to travel, knit, and paint. Known as “Tia” by many, Michele would be an aunt to anyone she met. Her cooking and hostessing skills were never put to waste as all were invited to her table. For Michele, a full house was a full heart. She also had a love for animals. If a stray dog showed up on her property she would never send it away. She would find a home for it or take it in herself. Michele will be dearly missed by her family and the community where she gave so much.
Michele is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Marie Garino.
She is survived by her husband Darryl, her two sons; Joseph and Christian, their wives; Jeanette and Terry, respectively, her grand- children; Emma, Ellen, and Conner, and her sister; Joanne. Michele is also survived by 12 beloved brother and sisters-in-law,
16 nieces and nephews, 17 grand-nieces and grandnephews.
A memorial service will be held at St Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1200 Maze Blvd, Modesto, CA on Tuesday, September 12th at 11:00 a.m. immediately following the service.
A celebration of life will be held at Spring Creek Golf and Country Club, 1580 Spring Creek Dr., in Ripon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ripon Consolidated Fire Department.
