Lathrop 7,
 Weston Ranch 6 (8)
LATHROP – The Spartans (1-5 Valley Oak League, 4-10 overall) picked up their first VOL win in walk-off fashion when Martin Valadez snuck a bases-loaded Texas-League single over second base to score Shawn Cummings for the win.
“David Lopez and Estevan Salazar did a great job of getting ahead in the count pitching to contact,” said Lathrop coach Randy Baltazar. “Weston Ranch made some good contact but we had guys in the right position to make plays.”
Amier Bowen had a triple for the Cougars (1-5, 4-10-1). C.J. Drain added two doubles and Larry Martinez had a double.
“We had our run in the beginning of the game with solid hits from our first four batters to set the tone. Weston Ranch wasn’t going to be held to just one or two runs – we knew they would chip away,” Baltazar added.
