The Knights senior led Ripon Christian to an undefeated playoff run resulting in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII championship, the first blue banner in program history.
In four post-season games Ripon Christian outscored its opponents 51-5, and O’Leary’s stats from the last three games were equally impressive:  A batting average of .778 with six RBI, two home runs, three doubles, two singles, two walks, eight runs and no strikeouts. In that run she had an on-base percentage of .818 and a slugging percentage of 1.778.
Not every playoff game was a romp for the Knights. In the semifinal 2-1 win over Stone Ridge Christian of Merced on Tuesday, May 23, Ripon Christian was behind for the first time in the playoffs 1-0 when O’Leary tied the game with a home run. She then doubled and eventually scored for the margin of victory.
In the championship game the next night again against Stone Ridge Christian, O’Leary added another home run and scored four times in a 14-3 romp for the title.
O’Leary looks to make her mark next season going east to play for Brown, and according to Knights coach Lenny Rizzuto, she should transition well to the Ivy League.
“Katie is the definition of a student athlete,” Rizzutto said. “She an awesome teammate and easy to coach.”
