LOS BANOS — It was a one-point game going into the fourth quarter, and Pacheco broke away with a pair of late touchdowns to down Sierra 42-27 on Friday.
“It was a good game until late in the fourth quarter,” Sierra coach Chris Johnson said. “They just happened to put together a 99-yard drive that just kind of the game out of reach for us and then added another onto that. I think that our kids fought hard and played really well and we had some bright spots and some things that we can be proud of. I think our line played well on both sides of the ball.”
Timberwolves back Larenz Redd also proved to be a bright spot for Sierra, racking up 234 yards on 10 carries and accounting for three of Sierra’ four touchdowns.
With the loss, Sierra drops to 1-2 during nonleague action, and will have a week off before starting the Valley Oak League season against Kimball on Sept. 22.
“We have a week off so that’s a chance to get back to working on some things and getting healthy,” Johnson said. “We’re a little banged up right now, as (quarterback) Jacob Peterson didn’t play tonight, but we had Nick Stanley that stepped up and did a good job for us. Hopefully we can rest up and kind of clean somethings up and come back out ready for league.”
