LOS BANOS — Freshman point guard Kyaira Jacobs erupted for a season-high 17 points on Wednesday, leading Manteca to a 41-31 win over Los Banos.

It was a close game throughout before Jacobs took over in the fourth period, scoring nine of her points as the Buffaloes (3-3) outscored the Tigers (5-2) down the stretch.

“We played defense and rebounded well,” Manteca coach Ryan Bono said. “Los Banos pressed and trapped against us and we handled it pretty well. That led to easy looks at the basket. We didn’t always finish, but I liked the way we handled their pressure. (Jacobs) was able to get to the rim a lot in the fourth quarter against the press and halfcourt trap.”

Manteca led 22-21 at halftime before expanding the lead. Sarah Inderbitzin contributed eight points in the win.

The Buffaloes will look to avenge one of their losses at Lincoln of Stockton next Monday. Lincoln previously downed Manteca 53-40 in the semifinal round of its own Trojan Classic last week.
