Buffs bounce back; take 3rd in Elk Grove

ELK GROVE – Manteca came back from a third-period deficit to defeat Elk Grove 62-60 on Saturday for third place in the Cosumnes Oaks/Running with the Pack Tournament. 

“We were down eight points in the third quarter,” Buffaloes coach Brett Lewis said. “It was big for us to battle back and grind it out.

Jordan Burciaga paced Manteca (2-5) with 12 points followed by Kyle Bolding and Gino Campiotti with 10 points apiece. 

The Thundering Herd’s Enoch Lee led all scorers with 15 points. 

Ripon Winter Classic.

The Delta Kings (7-3) outscored the Indians (4-6) by six points in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win. 

Baz Cheema led Ripon with 16 points followed by Vincent Olmo with nine and Kyle Sisk with eight.  

Stagg’s Richard Aguirre led all scorers with 21 points.

West Holiday Classic

The Spartans (2-7) salvaged a win in the tournament Saturday in convincing fashion.

Colin Weiss (three rebounds, assist, steal) led Lathrop with 15 points followed by Dan Ballesteros with 14. Isaiah Victor added nine points, six rebounds, five assists and a steal.

The Spartans were nipped at the end in a second-round consolation contest Friday. 

Victor (five rebounds, three assists, block) and Ballesteros (four rebounds) paced Lathrop with 16 points each.
