Finding the meaning of Christmas

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
You know, Christmas time can be a real pain. We go to the store, fight the crowds, spend, spend and spend some more. For some, that’s very fulfilling, for me it has always left me empty. There was always something missing until last Christmas. My best half was in Washington with her son.
I spent last Christmas with my brothers in arms. I played Santa Claus at the Veterans’  Hospital  in Livermore. I am sure there were others in the other building. The glee in the eyes of these men when Santa reached for their hand to place a present in their grasp filled my lifetime void forever.
This year someone else has the honor to bring a moment of joy to those brave souls that are forever my brothers. I love those guys.
I wish I could do more.
