It’s Michael Restuccia’s turn to take the helm at the Ripon City Council.

The elected leader will have the option to accept or decline the mayoral seat during Tuesday’s reorganization session in the Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

For the past five years, the mayoral seat for the City of Ripon has been filled on a rotational basis. At the 6 p.m. open session, current mayor Dean Uecker will move down to the No. 5 seat while Restuccia and Leo Zuber, if all goes accordingly, filling in the top two positions of mayor and vice mayor, respectively.

In other agenda items:

uCouncil members will approve and authorize the mayor to sign the Measure K Renewal Cooperation Agreement with the San Joaquin Council of Governments in order to receive reimbursement for grant writing assistance under the Measure K Bike / Pedestrian Routes to School program.

uThey’ll consider appointing one member of the council along with a staff member to the Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Program.

uThey’ll also discuss staff’s recommendation on reducing the upcoming Feb. 1 sewer rate increase, from 10 percent to 5 percent, and moving forward with the water and garbage rate increases as originally planned.
