Woodward 8th grade grad class features 18 with perfect grades

Last week’s eighth-grade promotion exercises were a time to remember for 126 students at Walter Woodward School.

The May 28 event kicked off with William Lair and Katherine Nguyen, who was one of 18 from the Class of 2014 to earn high academic honors – in particular, those who maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point averages for the past year – leading the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Woodward Choir performed the “Star Spangled Banner” followed by Principal Sherrie Jamero welcoming family, friends and special guests attending the special event held in the Multipurpose Building.

President Kaitlyn Funsch and Taylor Reed were the student speakers.

Along with Nguyen and Reed, the following also earned top academic 4.0 honors: Fernanda Arao, Brooke Benson, Amanda Buhay, DeAngelo Caldera, Runvir Chouchan, Vanesa Ellks, Travis Forte, Simranjit Kaur, Dai Sam Ma, Gabriella Maitland, Carolyn Morrish, Ashley Pease, Taylor Reed, Surayya Sakhi, Alyssa Trejo, Soraida Valle, Paige Van Zant, Joshua Vega, and Amber Zarevich.

Honor roll students with 3.99 to 3.5 GPAs included Jason Balingit, Michael Ballard, Amaya Baluyut, Lucia Barragan, Tiana Bensman, Christian Carrasco, Kylan Chandler, Alexis Claros, Taylor Corona, Dominiq Danao, Alejandra Delgadillo, Jasmine English, Kaitlynn Funsch, Melanie Galan, Matsua Garcia Mendez, Meghan Garlets, Amann Ghuman, Hailey Huber Gosney, Madison Hutchison, Mason James, Julia Maitland, Jordan Marquis, Nicole Mason, Azucena Mendiola, Matthew Montalvo, Yesenia Moreno, Michaela Pangburn, Hannah Perez, Marco Pimentel, Kyle Reis, Kathryn Rocha, Nicole Safty, Mychael Soltero, Cassandra Vasquez, and Saifu Xu.
