Xavier Mendez (2 for 3, five RBI, home run, two runs) matched the fourth-inning Northgate production with just one swing in the second inning, hitting a grand-slam home run to plate John Perazzo, Vieira and Severson. Perazzo started the game off for Northgate with a home run and later in the first inning Mendez hit a sacrifice fly to score Looney and Jack Cunial (three RBI) singled in Vieira and Severson.

After Amador East had a grand slam of its own in the fifth to come within 13-11, Northgate came through with four insurance runs in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single by Lee that scored Looney, a sacrifice fly by Cunial to plate Severson and a two-RBI single by Tony Pretoni that scored Mendez and Lee.
