MODESTO — Modesto Junior College men’s golfer Nick Sharp is the Big 8 Conference’s selection for the California Community College Athletic Association Male Scholar-Athlete of The Year. His selection now moves on to the state committee for consideration for the prestigious State Male Scholar-Athlete of The Year.
Sharp, a graduate of Ripon High School, was a two-time Big 8 All-Conference selection and helped MJC reach the Elite 8 this last spring. Nick excelled academically, graduating from MJC with a cumulative 4.0 G.P.A. (82 earned credits).  He earned an Associate of Arts degree in Business, taking a rigorous course load that included such classes as: business law, principles of marketing, U.S. government and politics, principles of macroeconomics and calculus.
“Nick was outstanding as a student at MJC and as an intercollegiate athlete, and is a credit to California community colleges,” said MJC men’s golf coach Ron Gross. “Nick is a terrific young man and the epitome of what ‘student athlete’ truly means.”
Sharp is now attending the University of Denver on an athletic scholarship.
