STOCKTON – It is possible to have the best of both worlds.

While Hertz Auto Sales offers year-old previously-rented cars at reduced prices every day of the year, they’re currently cutting back their prices even further to make room for the 2009 models that will be flooding the lot once their service in the fleet has been completed.

Armed with the original factory warranty and an available warranty upgrade, the vehicles run the gamut from the sporty to practical presenting buyers and those in the market with the unique opportunity to get value in a vehicle.

“Right now we’re getting ready for a busy weekend with our fleet reduction sale,” Hertz Stockton General Sales Manager Jon Enea said. “It isn’t something that we do very often, and it gives our buyers the chance to get the most value in their purchase.”

Known the world over as a premier rental car carrier, Hertz also has to figure out what to do with those vehicles that have run their course in the rental fleet. Company policy is to offer rental customers models that are within a given year meaning cars are taken out of rental service after 12 months.

And all of those cars have to go somewhere after they’ve performed their service.

As the only Hertz Car Sales center in Central California, Hertz Stockton is constantly turning over their inventory and getting in fresh models of every assortment.

Despite the reputation of previously rented cars being abused, Enea says that 80 percent of the models they rent are to families and business clients and that each vehicle has to undergo an inspection to make sure that it qualifies as lot ready before it can be shipped out.

“Hertz isn’t the cheapest place to look if you’re going to rent a car for the sake of beating it up,” Enea said. “Those that aren’t up to our standards we simply move through other avenues like auctions – we always want to provide the best car possible to the customers that come through our doors.

“And each and every car on the lot still has its original factory warranty – that’s not something that you find in a lot of previously owned vehicles.”

With 2010 models now rolling off the assembly line, all of the 2009 models that Hertz has in stock are nearing the end of their life span and will have to be cycled out.

“We want people to know what it is that we have here at Hertz, and that it is possible to find a great value – that’s what we built this portion of our business on.”
