More than a dozen business leaders got a chance Tuesday morning to see the progress of construction of the Hampton Inn and Suites – which will bring more than 100 additional hotel rooms to the city when it opens next month.

And they needed was a hard hat to do it.

Hampton Inn and Suites Manteca General Manager Terry Pierce led the tour through the under-construction portion of the building – showing an almost completed room and a Jacuzzi suite that includes a television mounted on the bathroom wall for long soaks and optimal comfort.

According to Cynthia Jones – the general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn in Clovis where Pierce cut his teeth in hotel management – events like the hard hat tour Tuesday morning are a chance to welcome some of the local business leaders and showcase the brand that they’re bringing to the community.

“Events like this are a chance to get the product out there and introduce ourselves to pivotal people in the community,” Jones said. “We’re always looking to give back to the communities in which we operate, and this gives us a chance to meet some of the local leaders and the people in the local economy that we’ll be working with in the future.”

The hotel expects to open for business officially on April 28.

Tuesday’s tour showcased the building’s meeting facilities, its corporate offices behind the front desk, the breakfast area, and the fitness center – which will include workout equipment outfitted with individual flat-screen TVs fed by a DirecTV satellite feed.

For Big League Dreams Director Roy Fetherolf, the tour showed the progress of the facility that he hopes will become a favorite overnight spot for tournament teams and out-of-town guests that utilize his facility.

“Whenever Big League Dreams comes to a city we look to establish a partnership with four hotel properties, and this is the fourth that we’ve partnered with,” Fetherolf said. “Big League Dreams has been waiting for Hampton Inn and Suites to come to Manteca, and we absolutely welcome them and look forward to the future.”
